chalk home

privacy policy

last updated: november 4, 2026

the short version: chalk keeps your phone number and what you choose to tell it: your name, grade and subjects, short notes on how you learn, and any reminders you set. you can skip the questions, see what chalk knows anytime, and wipe it with one text. the messages and photos you send get passed to anthropic so claude can write your answer, and they are never used to train ai. chalk keeps the text of your chat for 14 days so it can follow the conversation, including the words it read off your photos, and it never keeps the photos themselves. we don't sell anything about you.

what we collect

your phone number. it's how chalk knows it's you. there is no account to make, and we do not ask for an email, an address, a school, a birthday, or a password.

what you tell chalk. when you first text, chalk asks for your name, your grade, and the subjects you need help with. you can skip any of them.

notes on how you learn. chalk saves short notes so it can help you better next time, like a topic you're stuck on, a mistake you keep making, or how you like things explained. you can also tell it to remember something. these are short summaries, not copies of your messages.

reminders. if you ask chalk to remind you about something, it keeps what you asked for and when to send it.

tied to that number we also keep a running count of how many texts you have sent, which plan you are on, and if you subscribe, the reference ids our payment processor gives us.

your chat. chalk keeps the text of your messages and its replies for 14 days so it can follow the conversation, then deletes them automatically.

photos. the photos you send are passed to anthropic to generate your answer (see below). chalk does not store the photos. it keeps the words it read off them, like the questions on a worksheet, as part of your chat text for 14 days so you can ask about them later.

why we collect it

we do not train ai on your stuff. ever.

your messages, your photos, and the answers chalk sends back are never used to train ai models. not ours, not anyone else's. there is no setting for this because there is no version of chalk where we do it.

how answers are made

chalk uses claude by anthropic to read your problem and write the answer. your messages and photos are sent to anthropic for that purpose only. you can read anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

so the answer can fit you, your name, grade, subjects, notes, reminders and recent chat are sent to anthropic along with your message.

anthropic does not use data sent through its commercial api to train its models.

where it's stored

your name, grade, subjects, notes, reminders and recent chat are stored with supabase, our database provider.

what we never do

we do not sell your information.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

payments

payments are handled by a third party payment processor. chalk never sees or stores your card details.

seeing and deleting your data

ask chalk what it knows about you anytime. tell it to forget something to drop a note, or to forget everything to wipe your notes and chat history.

text DELETE to (615) 767-2967, or email stxrmymp4@gmail.com, to erase your phone number, profile, notes, chat history and reminders. if you've paid for chalk plus, we keep the record of those payments for our accounting.
